On 6 August, Rustavi Azot Indorama hosted an evening dedicated to the legend of Georgian cinema and theatre, Sofiko Chiaureli – “Sofiko. Unknown Stories.” The event celebrated the actress’s remarkable creative journey, her life, and her special memories connected with India.
The evening was organized in cooperation with the Georgia-India Chamber of Cultural and Scientific Relations and was held as part of the ongoing “Founders’ Day” Week at Rustavi Azot Indorama.
The event featured an exhibition of unique, previously unpublished photographs from the set of the 1980 film “The Adventures of Ali-Baba and the Forty Thieves,” in which Sofiko Chiaureli appeared alongside Indian cinema stars Dharmendra, Hema Malini, and Zeenat Aman. The evening also included a screening of the documentary film “Sofiko,” offering the audience another opportunity to revisit the remarkable artistic world and distinctive personality of the legendary actress.
Among the special guests were people closely connected with Sofiko Chiaureli’s life and creative journey, including renowned Georgian actress and Sofiko Chiaureli’s close friend Asmat Tkablaze, as well as well-known photographer Yuri Mechitov.
The evening concluded on a symbolic and emotional note with a traditional Indian dance.
