JSC “Rustavi Azot” is the largest chemical company and only producer of industrial chemicals and mineral fertilizers in the South Caucasus. JSC “Rustavi Azot” surely takes the place, both on local and export market.
The enterprise with more than semi centennial history is a guarantor of stability and quality for many countries of the world.
Today JSC “Rustavi Azot” is one of leaders among the industrial enterprises in Georgia where more than 2000 people are employed.
How we started?
- February 27, 1956 – birthday of "Rustavi Azot" (on this day, for the first time, with use of local raw materials ammonia was produced).
- In 1947 the decision was made regarding putting into operation of "Rustavi Azot" as enterprise, on the basis of existing product of metallurgical plant – coke gas.
- April, 1955 – In the plant of nitrogen fertilizer commissioning work began, the plant had to use imported raw materials.
- On December 31, 1957 Potassium Production Workshop started on base of new capacities, the Academy of Sciences of Georgia made a huge contribution in development of the production method.
- In 1947 the decision was made regarding putting into operation of "Rustavi Azot" as enterprise, on the basis of existing product of metallurgical plant – coke gas.
- September, 1960 the chemists of "Rustavi Azot" transferred the production cycle to natural gas, as a result there was no need to use coke gas from the Metallurgical factory.
- In 1961 Workshop of weak nitric acid started.
- On October 22, 1963 – according to the phenol scheme the first products were turned out in the production of Caprolactam.
- October, 1967 – production of a completely new product – sodium cyanide began, initially in technical form.
- December, 1973 – production of pure sodium cyanide began.
- 1979–81 – Two large ammonia aggregates were put into operation, with productivity twice higher than existing capacity. Production transferred to new capacities for nitric acid and ammonium nitrate.
- 1985 – Production of Caprolactam recommissioned.
- February, 1991 – "Rustavi Azot" produced cosmetic products: eye pencils and lipstick.

Enterprise
JSC “Rustavi Azot” is the largest industrial enterprise in Georgia and the only manufacturer of nitrogen fertilizers in the South Caucasus region.
JSC “Rustavi Azot” strongly holds foothold both in local and export markets. Specialization of the enterprise is production of mineral fertilizers, also ammonia, sodium cyanide, nitric acid, ammonia water and etc.

Ammonia (1 unit AM-600) – 200 000 Tn. Year Nitric Acid – 372 000 Tn. Year Ammonia Nitrate – 450 000 Tn. Year Ammonia Sulfate – 140 000 Tn. Year Sodium Cyanide – 11 655 Tn. Year Liquid Oxygen – 12 800 Tn. Year Liquid Nitrogen – 12 800 Tn. Year Dry Ice – 2 000 Tn. Year Carbon Dioxide – 3 000 Tn. Year Copper Sulfate – 500 Tn. Year
